Robert Eggers Next Movie Will Be a Werewolf Flick!
First Witches, Then Vampires, Now Werewolves
According to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, Nosferatu director Robert Eggers next movie is going to be Werewulf. It will be released in time for the 2026 Christmas season. As with his previous films, Werewulf will be produced by Focus Features.
So, what can we expect from a Robert Eggers werewolf movie? We already know that it will be a period piece set in medieval times. Judging by his past work, Werewulf‘s set design and costumes will be meticulously crafted to reflect the era.
Medieval Europe is an idea setting for a werewolf movie because it was an era where people took werewolves very seriously. People who were suspected of being werewolves were executed, similar to witches. Eggers is likely to draw from ancient werewolf legends.
Will Eggers bring any of the prominent cast members from his previous films back in Werewulf? Bill Skarsgard, Anya Taylor-Joy, Lily Rose-Depp, and Nicholas Hoult won acclaim for their performances in the director’s past films. Perhaps will see some of them again.
Hopefully it will be more successful than the recently released Wolfman, which quickly fizzed at the box office after receiving tepid reviews. It’s been awhile since there was a truly great werewolf movie, but maybe this one will surpass expectations like Nosferatu did.
