Double or Nothing!
It’s taken seven years, but the follow up to the surprise hit Ready or Not is finally on its way. The first Ready or Not 2 trailer was released this week. The upcoming sequel’s full official title is Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.
Grace (Samara Weaving) just can’t catch a break. After waking up in the hospital following the bloody conclusion of the first film, she discovers that she is now part of an even larger deadly game of hide and seek.
The most wealthy and powerful families in the world must kill her, or they will lose their influence and fortune. Sequels often expand upon the original premise, but this is a wild escalation. The trailer makes it seem like the fate of the entire world hinges on Grace’s survival.
This time, Grace isn’t alone. Her estranged sister, Faith (Kathryn Newton), has been kidnapped and forced to join the game. Are the siblings going to find a way to somehow defeat an army of killers?
Radio Silence have put together an impressive cast. Along with Newton, Ready or Not 2 adds Elijah Wood and Sarah Michelle Gellar in villainous roles.
Ready or Not 2 Trailer Breakdown
0:55-1:15 – Grace is going to be hiding in a huge mansion this time. There’s plenty of places to hide, but there’s also hidden cameras and an armada of assassins armed with assault weapons. She’s going to need John Wick fighting skills to make it though this one!
1:19-1:29 – The evil families were smart enough to anticipate Grace would require some extra incentive to play again. I’m interested to learn more about Faith and her backstory.
I hope this movie finally gives Kathryn Newton a breakout hit. She’s one of my favorite modern scream queens, but she’s had bad luck with her movies and shows not performing as well as hoped.
1:35-1:37 – “Whoever wins runs everything.” The families are competing with each other to kill Grace and Faith. There will surely be plenty of conflict between the rival groups. Will Grace and/or Faith get to “run everything” if they survive? Will they inherit the families’ fortunes?
If there’s a Ready or Not 3, how can they expand the stakes from here? Will Grace get kidnapped by aliens and forced to play an intergalactic game of hide and seek with the entire universe at stake?
