The new I Know What You Did Last Summer installment, which will be the franchise’s first theatrical release since 1998, is ramping up production. The director, Jenn Robinson, shared a behind the scenes photo on her Instagram account of a letter addressed to Julie James, the final girl of the first two IKWYDLS movies. Jennifer Love Hewitt is returning to play Julie for a third time.

If the prior entries are any indication, the letter will say some variation of “I know what you did last summer.” Considering how long this series has been dormant, maybe it will say “I know what you did 25 years ago!”

If the letter really is from The Fisherman, it’s interesting to note that he’s still using snail mail to threaten his victims. You’d think by now he would have moved on to cyber stalking, or at least email! Get with the times, buddy!

I Know What You Did Last Summer (or whatever it will end up being called) will slash its way into theaters on July 18th. So far, most details are being kept under wraps. We haven’t received a trailer or even a brief teaser yet. However, it has been confirmed that Freddie Prinze Jr. will also return, reprising his role as Ray Bronson. It will be interesting to see how this compares to the 2022 Scream movie.
