In a weekend where A Minecraft Movie became Hollywood’s first bona fide smash hit of 2025, three horror flicks finished in the top ten. As expected, however, none made a major impact.

Leading the genre pack for the second weekend in a row was The Woman in the Yard, which racked up another estimated $4 million for a total of around $17 million. That put it in fifth place for the weekend.

Right behind it in sixth place was Death of a Unicorn, which earned $2.7 million for a total of about $11 million. That surpasses its $10 million budget, but that doesn’t include marketing costs.

Hell of a Summer made a quiet debut in eighth place with $1.7 million. The summer camp slasher only cost $3 million to make, so this is a respectable start.

Looking Ahead

Universal

Drop premieres next weekend. It has received mostly rave reviews. But, as I’ve mentioned before, the heavy hitter getting all the hype is Sinners, which premiers on Easter weekend. Warner Bros hit it big with Minecraft, and they’ll look to do the same with the Michael B. Jordan period vampire flick.
