It’s still summer, and we’re in the midst of a movie season dominated by superheroes and dinosaurs. There wasn’t much going on with theatrical horror films this past weekend, so this going to be a short post.

I Know What You Did Last Summer grossed an estimated $5.1 million in its second weekend, falling 60% from week 1. That’s a fairly typical week 2 drop for a slasher film.

It landed it at sixth place for the weekend, the only horror movie in the top ten. It’s grossed $23.5 million domestically and $45 million worldwide on a budget of $18 million, not including marketing. IKWYDLS will squeeze out some profit, but its mediocre performance likely means that there won’t be another installment anytime soon.

28 Years Later finally dropped out of the top ten, landing in 13th place with about half a million dollars earned, but it did manage to reach the $70 million total mark domestically and $150 million worldwide. It will be bowing out of theaters soon.

As I mentioned last week, the critically acclaimed body horror movie Together premieres this week. Weapons, a supernatural horror film directed by Zach Cregger, is also coming up soon. It’s about seventeen school children who mysteriously disappear in the middle of the night. Weapons hits theaters on August 8th.
