Horror at the Box Office: Final Destination Rakes In More Profits
After ruling the box office last weekend, Final Destination: Bloodlines landed in third place with a solid $19.7 million gross. That puts its domestic total at nearly $90 million and its worldwide earnings at approximately $187 million. It cost $50 million to produce.
Bloodlines dropped about 61% from its opening weekend, which is within the standard historical range for a slasher movie. It doesn’t have Sinners‘s endurance, but that doesn’t take anything away from its success. It will roll past $100 million domestic in short order.
Speaking of Sinners, it dropped a respectable 42% and earned $8.7 million, bringing its total to a mighty $256 million. It’s likely to be the year’s highest grossing horror film.
No other horror movies made the top ten this week, so this post is going to be short and sweet. It’s worth noting that Clown in a Cornfield will be on Shudder soon – probably in a couple weeks. At the moment, Frendo is still clowning around in a tiny number of theaters.
Looking Ahead
Bring Her Back, which has built buzz as one of the year’s creepiest horror movies, hits theaters on May 30th. It could be a sleeper hit. The film is co-directed by the guys who made the 2023 surprise hit Talk to Me. Can they strike gold twice?
I expect Bloodlines and Sinners to have enough juice left to land in the top ten as well.
