Reaction to Final Destination Bloodlines Trailer 2!
The newly released Final Destination Bloodlines trailer 2 gives a broader look at the upcoming sixth installment of the series. Warner Bros previously released a well-received teaser, which I covered here.
Considering that the new trailer is currently #1 trending on YouTube, and has racked up nearly nine million views in about 24 hours, it’s safe to say that there’s still a great deal of interest in this series.
This time, it’s a family who is being targeted by death. The victims in the previous movies were always survivors of freak accidents who miraculously survived events that were supposed to kill them.
This franchise has been around for 25 years, so it’s fair (and brave) for the filmmakers to try a fresh take on the formula. Let’s take a look at the new trailer!
Quick Takes on Final Destination Bloodlines Trailer 2
1:13 – 1:29 – The family’s grandmother talks about a premonition she had as a young woman. Looks like Bloodlines is going to be at least partially set in the past. It will be interesting to see if and how they explain how the series began.
1:46 – 1:50 – The grandma hands her granddaughter a notebook that she says will keep family safe. I’m intrigued by this. Has she come up with some sort of grand strategy that none of the people in the previous movies thought of?
1:54 – 1:56 – “Death is coming for us because were never supposed to exist!” Now that is a head trip right there! Imagine if literally your entire family tree was marked for death by an unstoppable supernatural force.
2:01 – 2:04 – The great Tony Todd appears in what will be his final film appearance.
2:13 – Fun homage to the original movie with a guy getting mowed down by a truck!
One thing that these movies have never explained is how death can “mess up” in the first place. If death is such a powerful force, why are so many of the characters in these movies able to escape it, if only temporarily? Is there a counteracting “life” force that sometimes impedes death’s design? Bloodlines might tell us.
Final Destination Bloodlines premieres in theaters on May 16th. Here’s the trailer:
