Taking a Look At The Unusual Final Destination Bloodlines Teaser Trailer

The Final Destination Bloodlines teaser trailer is out! Warner Bros has taken an odd, but intriguing, approach to telling us about what’s in the store for the upcoming sixth installment of the franchise.

Instead of a traditional teaser with clips of footage from various parts of the movie, the teaser focuses on one scene. A tattoo artist is cleaning up his shop after closing time. Things start getting weird. Objects move and strange sounds are heard. If you’re familiar with this series, you’ll know what happens next. Death uses a chain, a fan, a gas cannister, and even a nose ring to creatively dispatch its latest victim.

My guess is that we’ll get a conventional trailer before the movie comes out, but I like the approach that they took here. It gives away one death, but keeps the rest of the movie, and most of the plot specifics, in the dark. With so many people complaining about spoilery trailers these days, this is an interesting tactic that could be copied by other studios.

The teaser ends with the tagline “death runs in the family.” Focusing on a single family changes up the series formula, which was based on large mass casualty disasters like a rollercoaster breakdown, plane crash, bridge collapse, etc. The late Tony Todd, who appeared in multiple prior installments, will make his final film appearance.

This is the first installment in 14 years, following Final Destination 5 (2011). Here’s the Final Destination Bloodlines teaser trailer. The movie will be released in theaters on May 16th.
