Crystal Lake Series Wraps Filming! When Will it Release?

After a long and rocky road, the Friday the 13th prequel Crystal Lake series has officially wrapped filming. The series stars Linda Cardinelli as Pamela Voorhees and Callum Vinson as young Jason Voorhees. It remains unconfirmed whether the adult Jason will appear.
An exact release date remains elusive, but the series is expected to premiere in 2026. Early in the year, I was hoping they would have it out for the Halloween 2025 season, but that obviously didn’t happen. My guess is that it will release in the spring or summer.
The wrap announcement is the latest chapter in a comeback for the Friday the 13th franchise after it spent a decade and a half lost in the legal wilderness. With the rights issues finally resolved, Jason is back at Halloween Horror Nights and ready to hit the small screen for the first time.
There actually was a Friday the 13th TV series back in the late ’80s, but it did not feature Jason. I have never watched it, but apparently it’s about cursed antiques.
A Jason feature film probably isn’t that far off, but there’s no been no specifics as of yet. With 15 years of pent up demand, a movie would likely do big business at the box office.
The series is helmed by Brad Caleb Kane, who also developed the upcoming It – Welcome to Derry prequel series. It’s produced by A24, a studio mainly known for elevated horror films that often have themes related to grief and loss.
This seems like a weird fit for Friday the 13th, which are usually subtext-free popcorn movies, although Pamela is clearly going to be grieving when Jason supposedly drowns in the lake. It’s safe to say that Crystal Lake will be more cerebral than previous franchise installments, which may not sit well with hardcore longtime fans.
I’m looking forward to seeing a trailer for this. Now that filming is complete, the Crystal Lake series trailer can’t be far off, right? Hopefully we’ll at least get a teaser in the next couple of months.
