Alien Earth Trailer Reaction. On Earth, Everyone Can Hear You Scream!
Hulu has finally released the full Alien Earth trailer! They dropped a teaser four months ago. The eight episode series will air weekly starting in August. Chronologically, Alien Earth is the first installment of the series, set a couple years before the original Alien.
The show will bring the monstrous xenomorphs to Earth for the first time, finally delivering on the promise of the notoriously misleading Alien 3 teaser trailer.
Alien Earth was created by Noah Hawley, who is best known for the acclaimed Fargo FX television adaption. He doesn’t have much experience with horror, but he has had success adapting a movie into a series.
Quick Takes on the Alien Earth Trailer
0:10-0:32 – We open in the year 2120 (two years prior to the events of the original Alien). A girl, bald and apparently terminal ill, is about to transfer her consciousness into a synthetic android. This is an intriguing storyline. How much of her memories and personality will be retained?
0:40-0:42 – Oof. The xenomorph-infested spaceship crash lands in the middle of a vast urban landscape. This series is going to have an enormous body count. The number of potential victims is virtually limitless.
0:47 – 0:59 – The synthetic woman, Wendy (Sydney Chandler), leads a team of androids onto the ship. Having an android as the protagonist is a first for this series. I really liked Bishop (Lance Henricksen) from Aliens. If Wendy is anywhere near that endearing, this will be a good show.
1:17-1:22 – The footage of soldiers trudging through a lush forest reminds of the original Predator (1987). These two franchises are connected, of course, but I don’t think any Predators will appear in the series. They have their own upcoming projects.
Alien Earth will invade Hulu and FX on August 12th. Here’s the trailer:
