Crystal Lake Premiere Date Set!

A24 has set the Crystal Lake premiere date and appropriately it’s going to hit streaming right in the middle of the spooky season! The Friday the 13th prequel Crystal Lake series will premiere on October 15th on Peacock.
This is a busy year for showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, who also ran It – Welcome to Derry earlier this year. A major question remains: will the series drop all eight episodes at once or will they be released weekly? Peacock has used both Netflix-style binge drops and the traditional weekly release format, depending on the series.
There is no official word yet on which way Crystal Lake will go. If I had to guess, I would pick the weekly format in order to give fans time to discuss each episode and speculate what the future episodes will be like.
This has worked well for series like Yellowjackets, which probably would not have gained its large following without its devoted online community’s theories and speculation. It – Welcome to Derry is a weekly series, so Crystal Lake may want to follow that pattern. Of course, people who are familiar with the series will know the broad strokes of where the story is going, but there could still be twists along the way.
Due to legal issues, it’s been an incredibly long time since we’ve had a new official Friday the 13th installment. Crystal Lake, which was nearly derailed after losing its original showrunner, will be the first major Friday the 13th release since 2009. After 17 years, Jason fans (very much including myself) are starved for new material and are eagerly awaiting this series.
Hopefully the next step will finally be a trailer, or at least a brief teaser. With five months remaining until the release, I would expect that to happen quite soon.
