The 13 Best Horror Movie Quotes From Villains

Quotable Horror Villains
The best horror movie quotes usually belong to the villains, although the good guys have some memorable lines too (I’m saving them for a future list). There are horror antagonists that never say a word (you won’t find Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers on this list) and others that simply won’t shut up.
Some of the quotes below are extremely famous, while others are less known. I picked them because they capture the essence of each character’s personality.
I haven’t included info on each character below because I’ve already covered them in my scariest slasher villains, classic horror villains, female slasher villains, and underrated villains posts. Besides, anyone with a passing knowledge of horror knows who they are.
Here’s my picks for the 13 best horror movie quotes. They’re in alphabetical order based on the characters’ names.
“A boy’s best friend is his mother.” – Norman Bates

“Be my victim.” – Candyman

“Hi I’m Chucky, wanna play?” – Chucky

“What’s your favorite scary movie?” – Ghostface

“Most people are so ungrateful to be alive. But not you. Not anymore.” – Jigsaw

“Welcome to primetime, bitch!” – Freddy Krueger

“I do wish we could chat longer, but I’m having an old friend for dinner.” – Hannibal Lecter

“No, I’m a star! Please, I’m a staaaaaaar!!!!” – Pearl

“We all float down here.” – Pennywise

“Your suffering will be legendary, even in Hell!” – Pinhead
“Do I look like someone who cares what God thinks?” – Pinhead

“You play a good game, boy. But the game is finished. Now, you die!” – The Tall Man

‘The counselors weren’t paying attention! They were making love while that young boy drowned! His name was Jason.” – Pamela Voorhees

what makes a quote memorable?

Why do some movie quotes become imbedded in the public consciousness? I think the main factor is how the actor delivers the line. The writing certainly matters, of course, but the lines above wouldn’t be memorable if it wasn’t for the way that the performers said them.
“What’s your favorite scary movie” wouldn’t sound menacing coming from most people. Even “a boy’s best friend is his mother” would sound innocuous in many contexts. Credit goes to the efforts of Roger Jackson, Anthony Perkins, and the others on this list for their efforts.
