Crystal Lake Series – First Pics Released!
Happy Friday the 13th!
Happy birthday, Jason! This is already the second Friday the 13th of the year. This first, back in February, passed by with no updates on the upcoming Crystal Lake series.
I was hoping for a trailer or a release date announcement for today. Alas, we didn’t get either, but A24 has released the first images from the series. There are just three of ’em, and they don’t reveal much, but they’re better than nothing. Let’s take a look!
It’s safe to say that Pamela is the person holding the knife here. Her sleeves are a similar color to the sweater she wears in the first movie. I expect the Crystal Lake series to have plenty of callbacks to stuff from the original, so it would be no surprise to see Linda Cardellini sporting a blue sweater, just like Betsy Palmer did.
Other than that, this shot doesn’t tell us much. It’s hardly a revelation that Pamela will be stabbing people.
This amorously infatuated couple is probably Barry and Claudette, the hapless and horny camp counselors who were dispatched by Pamela in the opening scene of the original Friday the 13th The image of their legs is similar to shots in the original movie, when we’re seeing from Pamela’s POV as she slowly approaches them.
Although the movies have never confirmed this, there is a long-running fan theory that these two were the negligent counselors who weren’t watching Jason when he drowned. Barry and Claudette are confirmed to appear in the series.
But when does this scene take place? It might be from a later episode after Pamela finally snaps, but I think it’s equally possible that it will take place in the pilot, and the series will then flash back to show us what drove Pamela to this point.
A spooky shot of Crystal Lake! I like the dim lighting and the mist rising out of the water. Is this before or after Jason drowns?
Anyway, that’s all for now. A24 is still keeping this series tightly under wraps, but hopefully we’ll know more soon!
