Horror at the Box Office: Together Scores Solid Debut

The critically acclaimed body horror pic Together racked up a respectable debut weekend, scoring $6.8 million from Friday to Sunday and nearly $11 million total since its debut on Wednesday. That put it in sixth place at this weekend’s box office.
Body horror has rarely been a huge commercial draw, but these numbers are very solid. The $17 million budgeted film is likely well on its way to profitability, although it remains to be seen if it will have staying power in the weeks ahead.
I Know What You Did Last Summer finished in eighth place with a gross of about $2.6 million, a 49% drop from its second weekend. It’s earned $29 million thus far domestically and about $59 million worldwide.
With a budget of $18 million, IKWYDLS has performed decently, but its gross is still far inferior to other recent franchise revivals like 28 Years Later and Final Destination: Bloodlines.
